Although the life of the parent
is often hectic, you can read with your child at least once a day at a
regularly scheduled time. Fifteen minutes could be enough for three short
stories.
Most children enjoy listening
to many types of stories. They can look at the pictures and ask many questions.
You teach them the importance of language. The goal is to motivate children to
read so they can practice reading independently at the more advanced stage in
life. Enjoy the activity of reading with them.
Books are children’s best
friends. Introduce it to your family as early and often as you can. Many places
can be appropriate for reading aloud: sandbox, under the tree, or at the beach.
Moreover, let child choose her favorite story, and be attentive toward their
reactions. Allow them to have questions and answer them utilizing your
interpretation.
Reading aloud is a fun home-to-school
connection and an early introduction to pleasure of reading. Many public
libraries offer group meetings where children and their parents read and
develop friendships at the same time.
